‘Houston, we have no problem!’ Anyone who enters the Apollo Hotel on Lake Mondsee immediately senses the special harmony of this place. Inside and out, everything comes together to create a picture that cannot really be designed, but is made possible by the stylish interior. One example of this is the use of GAIA in the new restaurant viewing deck. Designed by Monica Armani, its organic shape is reminiscent of a flower gently opening. It appears light and elegant, just like the view of the lake. When you sit on GAIA, you understand why furnishings are sometimes more than just aesthetics: they enhance the atmosphere that a room already exudes and ideally complement it perfectly.
The Apollo restaurant is no longer an insider tip, but a culinary landmark on Lake Mondsee, in the heart of the Salzkammergut culinary hotspot region. At the viewing deck restaurant, regionality meets a cosmopolitan signature style without losing touch with its roots. Reinanke (known as Maräne in High German, or Felchen in Lake Constance, for example) from Lake Mondsee, beef from local farms: the dishes seem like the logical response to this landscape. It goes without saying that the wine list includes the best representatives of Austria, such as a Smaragd Riesling from the world-famous Knoll winery, which captures the minerality and aromatic power of the Wachau region, or a Sauvignon Blanc from white wine specialist Tement, which combines aroma, precision and Austrian flavour diversity.
GAIA is not furniture in the classic sense, but part of this staging, a link between nature, cuisine and architecture. And perhaps that is exactly what makes this place and its harmonious interior design so special: you don't feel like you're sitting somewhere, but exactly in the right place.
