KFF Visits the Peter August Böckstiegel Museum
Interview with David Riedel – Artistic Director of the Peter August Böckstiegel Museum
Opened in 2018, the Peter August Böckstiegel Museum in Arrode near Werther was built right next to the artist’s birthplace and is designed as a modern extension that deliberately highlights the historic artist’s house. Designed by the Lemgo-based architectural firm habermann.decker, led by Prof. André Habermann, the building combines clean, modern forms with materials such as shell limestone and oak, inspired by the Westphalian landscape and Peter August Böckstiegel’s expressive design language. Against this unique backdrop, KFF was able to showcase its latest products.
The interplay of light, space, structure, and landscape reflects the values that define both Peter August Böckstiegel and KFF: authenticity, design excellence, and the fusion of tradition and modernity. In conversation with David Riedel, the museum’s artistic director, the discussion centers on Peter August Böckstiegel’s deep connection to his Westphalian homeland, on materiality, design, and the unique power of regional identity.
